LOST YEARS SPENT LEARNING HOW TO SPELL

I was always annoyed during spelling classes. Writing is just another communication tool isn’t it?
So the whole point is to understand what the writer is trying to say.
Who cares if the writer chooses to write “attenshion” rather than attention?”
Why should it matter if you write “to who” instead of “to whom”?
In my uneducated opinion it shouldn’t matter and if you disagree, which is your perfect right,
try and read the following, if you still find spelling important, please explain:

cdnuolt blveiee taht I cluod aulaclty uesdnatnrd waht I was rdanieg. The
phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a! wrod
are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit
pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you
can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not
raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.
Amzanig huh? yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt!
if you can raed tihs psas it on !!

Comments:
That works if English is your first language. But it's a secret code if you're an immigrant.

Did you steal this post from my blog prag? My spelling is horedous.I used to be intelligent but unfortuanatly i was in a head on crash and suffered a bit of brain damage ,for my sins.Hence the reason my written english has become so poor.Thankyou for your comments.

This looks just like DovBear's material.

Taht iz sow fnny . Gd wan Prg

Lone -Plain English can look like Chinese to an immigrant or anyone unfamiliar with the language and/or alphabet.

Patt-I didn't notice your spelling mistakes, you posts are readable and I usually know what you mean, that's enough!
Sins can be repented!

Jack-I'll check his blog out, haven't been there in awhile

The Real- So do I. It looks better without faults but it's still overrated.

Sem- Thanks for the addition, now try writing a whole text like that.

lol...I can so identify.

Have a Good Shabbos, prag.

I suppose spelling is for the control freaks that want everything done just so....

aarrrrgggh!!!!
before having kids (three years ago,) i was a nyc high school english teacher!!!! reading this (sadly!) brings back a lot of memories.
seriously, i think i'm nauseous from all of those mistakes.
keep 'em coming.
hahahaahaa

That is amazing! But as an English major, I am obligated to cringe at egregious spelling errors. Not much I can do about it. I took an oath.

Great point, When I was at PTA I heard a parent telling the teacher who was complaining about the childs "efforts".. Umm call me if there is a DERECH ERETZ problem.

Well, FG,
I guess that makes me a control freak.

Idealist, at least you admit it... that is halfway to a cure ;-)

FG,

I have never denied it and yet I am still nowhere near cured.

Barbara- What do you mean? I bet you are very careful about spelling in your posts and letters, am I wrong? Thanks for passing by.

Frumgirl- it’s true that teachers tend to have control issues, perhaps you on to something.

Bec- It couldn’t have been that bad, what grade?

Mcaryeh- We’ll forgive you just this once!

Moochy- Too much focus on the non important points, no wonder Rabbi Twersky’s books sell like cookies.

A Frum idealist- No harm done, as long as it doesn’t become too obsessive.

Eshet- Thanks for visiting and you’re always welcome to pass by.

Shop-Nice to see you!

Actually, I read it very easily. It is amazing.

Lucy- Yeah I know,as long as the first and last letter are in order the words basically read themselves!! Bye bye correct spelling!!

I got that in an email a few years ago. I show it to my high school students for a good laugh.
